DSP Pedal Effect Development platform!

I started to get bored of analog only circuits, and became acutely aware that putting my energy there was taking away from the amount of time I’d spend making the music itself. So I decided to try out digital for faster development! The Meristem is a pretty straightforward DaisySeed/STM32 based pedal. The PCB is a kit one from PedalPCB called The Terrarium, but that’s kinda ancillary to the code on the device.

The idea here was to develop a platform where I could build and clone any DIGITAL effects I had on my board, as well as make my own versions of pedals/effects that I really like. This was gonna be a bridge into making plug-ins AND making those plug-ins portable. Things like Lossy, Strymon’s Big sky/Deco/Volante, Simple granular synthesis, glitch effects etc.

Right now it’s loaded up with a simple reverb algo and it sounds great.

Case Manufacturing

The case was a great excuse to work on milling metal on my CNC. I wanted to use toggle switches so milling had to be very precise. I also flattened the top surface and engraved labels onto it using a diamond tipped engraver bit. It took four tries haha.
