Why Make Pedals/Effects?

I like to make things more difficult for myself I suppose. No but actually, the best way for me to UNDERSTAND something is to try to build it.

Years ago I decided that instead of just buying my way to different signal processing effects, It’d serve me more to try to build them. In theory I’d save some amount of money and come to understand what each knob did completely.

Some of these are kit boards, some are done from scratch on perf or project board, some are on custom boards.

I wanted to stake a claim for myself on doing something that would help me feel more defined as a person outside of just “making music”. This kicked off a real season of my life in the best way.
